newsflash! - bacon butties every month!
Newport Men's Shed is now hosting a 'Blokes Bacon Butties and Banter group on the last Wednesday of each month (except December) 1-3. Just pop by. No charge but donation to the shed is appreciated.
The Newport Shed is based in the rear garden at Age UK IOW's Head Office at 147 High Street, Newport. The shed is up and painted, ready to be kitted out. As well as the shed there is a garden and a vegetable plot. The idea is to have a 'grow Cook Eat' project, using the garden to grow produce and the offices kitchen as a place to cook. The shed itself will host a work space where small scale wood working or other projects can take place.
As well as the shed and gardens, we are also looking after the flower beds outside of County Hall next door. These have been sadly neglected over the last few years due to Council cuts. As a way of connecting to the local community and to promote our work, we took on these flower beds and now they are looking blooming lovely with their makeover.
We are currently open every Wednesday afternoon, 1-4pm, although it is hoped in time to extend the opening hours. If you are interested in finding out more about this shed, please get in touch, or turn up when we are open. Now we have the actual shed built, we can get on and do some proper 'sheddy' activities.
